Karthik Pournami is a beautiful mystical religious festival which is celebrated on the full moon night in the auspicious Hindu month of Kartik, usually in November. This day is one of the most auspicious days for a Hindu. It is believed that all the worship done in this month contributes to the spiritual uplift of an individual. A few traditions of the day includes ritual bath in holy rivers and Devotees visiting the temple of Lord Shiva and lighting lamps. A pack of 365 wicks is usually lit. Each wick is for each day of the year. Some devotees do also light a wick on the floats made from the stems of the Banana Tree and set it afloat on the river.
In Hyderabad a special event is organised by Bhakti TV during Kartik Masam called ‘Koti Deepotsavam’.
